Our building, established in 1837, has a rich history.

Every decade has brought its own unique set of events, shaping the story of this place in distinct and meaningful ways. The building itself has evolved alongside these changes, developing a character full of charm, resilience, and personality.

1970s

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, it housed Gloria's Country Kitchen, run by a husband and wife who baked cakes. Afterward, it became a farm for raising partridges and pheasants for the nearby Beckett family’s shoot.

1980s

In the late 1980s, Mr. Jack Brook converted the farm into a motel, with parking right outside rooms, now home to the restaurant and Newton/Newton Courtyard.

1990s

David Bond Health Works took over in 1992, with David Bond bringing his distinctive style to the property, particularly in the bar’s eclectic décor.

2000s

The hotel was purchased in 2000 and underwent key developments: five meeting rooms were added, the Allington Suite, the leisure club expanded and a new wing with 50 bedrooms and four meeting rooms was built.

Today

Nowadays the Barn is a versatile hotel, spa and wedding venue which is known as the place to go for great food, corporate meetings and events, beauty treatments and not forgetting, great night out.
